For the Sodexo Australia 2026 Excellence Awards at Crown Perth, Chameleon Sand Candle created the biggest sand candle installation ever done in Western Australia — a 1,200+ candle styling experience across 23 banquet tables for 368 guests. The project translated Sodexo’s theme, “A Night to Shine,” into a large scale candle installation built on precision, preparation, and calm corporate execution.

Some rooms ask for decoration.

Others ask for a moment.

For Sodexo Australia’s 2026 Excellence Awards, the brief was not simply to make the ballroom look beautiful. It was to help create a visual and emotional journey — using light as a symbol of collective achievement, and supporting an evening shaped by music, energy, and recognition.

That distinction mattered.

Because corporate event candle styling is not just about placing candles on tables — but about understanding what the event needs to communicate. For Sodexo, the message was achievement. Unity. Light shared across the room.

So we designed candlelight to behave like a visual language.

What was the vision for Sodexo Australia’s “A Night to Shine”?

Sodexo Australia’s event theme was “A Night to Shine.” The evening was designed to celebrate excellence, recognise achievement, and build emotional energy through light, music, and atmosphere.

That gave us a clear creative direction.

The candlelight could not feel like an added table detail. It needed to become part of the story — one point of light for individual achievement, then thousands of flickers joining into one shared visual statement.

The room at Crown Perth was substantial, with Ballrooms 1 and 2 combined into one open event space. The banquet layout created 23 individual tables, each holding its own group of guests. Our design challenge was to make those separate tables feel connected.

Not separate tables with candles.

One room, one rhythm, one continuous glow.

The result was a large scale candle installation that carried the theme across the ballroom with quiet discipline. Long lines of white candlelight moved through the space, softening the room while giving it structure and presence.

Conscious. Elegant. Unforgettable.

How did Chameleon design the biggest sand candle installation ever done in Western Australia?

We began with the room itself.

For a corporate awards night, scale changes everything. A small styling idea can disappear in a ballroom if it does not have enough visual weight. A dense design can also feel overwhelming if it is not controlled with care.

So our design response was abundance with restraint.

Across 23 banquet tables, we created continuous candle runners using 1,200+ individual sand candles. Each table followed the same styling language, with layered heights, repeated rhythm, and deliberately placed negative space for service items and table details.

The aim was not visual clutter.

The aim was unity.

Every table needed to feel complete on its own, yet aligned with the tables around it. From different points in the ballroom, the candlelight had to read as straight, continuous, and intentional.

That is where the Chameleon Standards for Sand Candle Styling mattered.

Every vessel was prepared before arriving on site. Every placement followed the table plan. Every line was checked, adjusted, and checked again before guests entered the room.

Because the difference between “pretty” and professional often lives in details most guests never consciously notice.

They feel them.

Why does preparation matter in corporate event candle styling?

Corporate event candle styling succeeds long before the room reveal.

For this project, our team manufactured, prepared, packed, transported, installed, lit, monitored, and removed the candle installation within the requirements of a live venue environment. That meant every step needed to support the next.

Before bump-in, the candles were prepared by hand. Vessels were cleaned, filled, checked, packed, and labelled so the on-site team could work with accuracy, not uncertainty.

Approximately 800 kg of plant-based sand candle wax was involved across the installation. That scale only works when the preparation is methodical.

Not rushed.

Not improvised.

Not left to the final hour.

Because we manufacture our own plant-based sand candle wax in-house, we can control consistency, preparation, and supply at a level large corporate events require. That matters when the brief calls for 1,200+ candles to look cohesive under ballroom lighting, photography, guest movement, and venue pressure.

For corporate clients, this is the part they should never have to carry.

Our role is to absorb the complexity.

Corporate Events / Event Styling Services

What happened behind the scenes at Crown Perth?

On site at Crown Perth, the installation became a choreography of precision.

The team worked from custom table plans that mapped the exact candle styling pattern for each banquet table. The central candle corridors were marked and checked. Straight reference lines helped maintain alignment across the full length of each table. Custom templates were used to confirm spacing, especially where negative space needed to remain consistent for venue service and table function.

Every vessel was handled with gloves.

Every wick was placed upright.

Every sand surface was checked for levelness before the room was handed over.

This is where large-scale styling becomes different from standard event decoration. At a corporate gala, the room must not only look refined — it must work. Guests need sightlines. Venue teams need service access. Production partners need the styling to sit within lighting, staging, entertainment, and timing requirements.

Encore led production and AV for the evening, with the Perth Symphony Orchestra contributing to the emotional architecture of the event. Our candlelight had to belong within that wider experience.

Not compete with it.

Hold it.

What are corporate clients really buying when they book Chameleon?

Corporate clients are not just buying candles.

They are buying confidence.

They are buying a team that can walk into a premium venue, understand the brief, coordinate with production requirements, protect the visual outcome, and remove styling pressure from the event manager.

For a gala dinner, awards night, brand event, or executive celebration, the candlelight is only the visible layer. Beneath it sits the system.

That includes:

  • Design interpretation— translating the event theme into atmosphere

  • Manufacturing capacity— preparing consistent plant-based sand candle wax in-house

  • Venue-aware planning— styling around service, safety, sightlines, and timing

  • Installation discipline— placing each vessel with care and accuracy

  • Quality control— checking glass, sand, wick position, and alignment

  • Pack-down reliability— leaving the venue with the same care we bring in

More than candles. We create atmospheres.

For Sodexo Australia, that meant turning “A Night to Shine” into a room-wide experience of light, recognition, and collective achievement.

How did Sodexo Australia respond to the finished installation?

The most meaningful measure of success is whether the room feels the way the client hoped it would feel.

After the event, Sodexo Australia shared:

“We were extremely happy with your services and the candles on the night. They created exactly the atmosphere we were hoping for, and our attendees were absolutely blown away. Thank you again for bringing our vision to life, it added so much to the overall experience of the evening.”

That response matters because it names the true outcome.

Not “the candles looked beautiful.”

The atmosphere was right.

The vision came to life.

The experience of the evening was strengthened.

For us, that is the purpose of awards night candle styling. It should never sit separately from the event. It should support the reason people have gathered in the room.

Recognition. Celebration. Presence.

The Chameleon Perspective: why scale only works when standards come first

The Sodexo Australia 2026 Excellence Awards became a defining project for Chameleon because it tested what we believe at scale.

Our philosophy is not that more candles automatically create more impact.

The truth is more demanding.

More candles create more responsibility.

When an installation reaches this level, any inconsistency repeats across the room. A slightly crooked line becomes visible. A smudged vessel catches light. Uneven spacing breaks rhythm. A detail that seems small on one table becomes multiplied across 23.

That is why the Chameleon Standards for Sand Candle Styling are not ornamental.

They are operational.

They guide how we prepare, handle, place, check, and refine every element before guests arrive. They protect the design vision and the client’s peace of mind.

Because at this level, “near enough” is not a styling philosophy.

We know.

We know if a wick is leaning. We know if a line has drifted. We know if the candlelight does not yet have the rhythm the room deserves. And we correct it before the doors open.

That is the difference between supplying candles and delivering corporate event candle styling.

One is product.

The other is trust.

Large-Scale Installations / Corporate Styling

What can event managers learn from this installation?

The Sodexo project shows what is possible when candle styling is treated as part of the event strategy, not an afterthought.

For corporate event managers, the key lesson is this: atmosphere should be designed with the same seriousness as staging, lighting, entertainment, and guest flow.

Candlelight can:

  • anchor long banquet tables

  • create warmth in large rooms

  • support an event theme without heavy décor

  • make guest arrival feel more considered

  • photograph beautifully across wide and close-up shots

  • bring emotional softness to formal corporate settings

For gala dinner candle styling, this balance is especially powerful. Awards nights are structured, polished, and often highly produced. Candlelight adds humanity to that structure.

It gives the room a pulse.

Not just a “wow” moment — but a feeling guests carry through the evening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Chameleon provide candle styling for large corporate events?

Yes. Chameleon provides corporate event candle styling for gala dinners, awards nights, brand events, venue activations, and premium hospitality moments. Our work includes design planning, candle preparation, installation, quality checks, and pack-down, so event teams receive a complete styling service rather than loose candle supply.

What makes sand candles suitable for corporate event styling?

Sand candles are flexible, refined, and highly adaptable for large-scale styling. Chameleon’s sand candles use plant-based wax that is RSPO-certified, biodegradable, home-compostable, non-toxic, dye-free, and fragrance-free. This makes them well suited to enclosed venue environments where atmosphere, guest comfort, and presentation all matter.

Do corporate clients need to manage candle setup themselves?

No. For large corporate installations, Chameleon manages the styling process. We prepare the candles, coordinate the setup, install the design, complete room checks, and return for pack-down. The purpose is to give corporate clients a stress-free experience and a room that feels complete before guests arrive.

Can candle styling be designed around an event theme?

Yes. The Sodexo Australia 2026 Excellence Awards are a strong example. Their theme, “A Night to Shine,” shaped the entire candle styling concept. We used repeated lines of white candlelight to reflect individual and collective achievement across the ballroom.

Where does Chameleon offer corporate candle styling?

Chameleon is based in Western Australia and services Perth, Fremantle, Swan Valley, The Hills, and the South West. For major corporate installations, we also travel Australia-wide when the project requires Chameleon’s scale, systems, and candle styling expertise.

Closing

The Sodexo Australia 2026 Excellence Awards asked for more than a beautiful room.

It asked for light with meaning.

At Crown Perth, across 23 banquet tables and 1,200+ sand candles, that meaning became visible. A theme became an atmosphere. A corporate awards night became a shared moment of recognition, warmth, and presence.

That is what Chameleon offers corporate clients.

Not just candles — but scalable systems, calm execution, and candlelight with intention.
